Equitable access

The South West Maternal Medicine Network (SWMMN) co-ordinates and standardises care for pregnant women with pre-existing medical conditions or conditions that arise during pregnancy.

The overriding aim of the SWMMN is to ensure equitable access, excellent experience and optimal outcomes for women from all communities across the South West.

The purpose of the South West Maternal Medicine Network

  • To provide you with the highest standards of care before, during and after your pregnancy, whether you have complex pre-existing medical conditions or develop a new condition in pregnancy.
  • Your care will be tailored to your individual needs, delivered as close to your home as possible, by fully trained and supported teams who work as part of a bigger network of experts.
  • We want to ensure and reassure you that you will be treated equally, fairly and equitably, whoever you are, and whatever your circumstances.
